Americans don't want an atheist president

I guess I need to clarify what I meant. I would like an athiest President that isn't a nutcase... or really any President that isn't a nutcase. Radicalism doesn't really help us and I only said I wanted an athiest President because I am tired of us "pretending" that we have a separation of church and state when really it is more of facade. Religion is imbedded in much the United States pretty deeply, where people actually believe it over science and modern thought. We really live in a confused sad world. Also, I'm not saying that people have to believe in science, as everyone should have a choice of what they want to believe, but they should still be open to new ideas and should evaluate them themselves, rather than just taking the stance of "my religion is the answer, you are full of shi't."
