On the topic at hand though, I myself wouldn't care much for what kind of religion my president is into, as long as he makes rational decisions and has the kind of values I find important. I'm an atheist and not even from the states so I guess that might influence my opinion somewhat.

People in general are idiots, then try to rationalize it saying a certain group causes it. I see no problem of people praying for rain because what else can you do? Weather machine? Come on, the things people complain about are so petty it isn't even worthy of discussion. Now if a guy comes in saying that "god believes in purging the non believers" then that's more like Hitler, although the generalizations are different.
There are nut jobs on both sides of the fence, the more intelligent tend to not give a pomegranate and move on.
