Formula 1 level racing is pretty expensive, meaning they need actual sponsors, fans, etc. If they went virtual, they wouldn't need the big money and you may as well just do it yourself in a videogame... For about $400 you can get 80% of the way there, if you have $100,000 you could get a setup that's nearly indistinguishable from reality (a few racing teams have this, cause it's cheaper than practice in the real car).

Or I'm not getting something or you didn't get what he meant, if I'm not wrong Flonne just said to move the driver from the quite dangerous car into a booth while pretty much the rest stays the same, same car, same team, same million dollars spent for each race; just that the driver would do the driving off the car.

Edit: If the image I posted confused someone, what I meant is that the control should emulate the actual car unlike the drone controls that don't:
