Most likely map crashed or DC hacked. The reason Nexon can't give back lost items is because they are mentally retarded and can't get a system to work just like in WoW. Even RIFT has an amazing anit-hack feature which I find really nice. It's an iPhone application you can download where you have this key that you can use to login from another place. If you login without activating that key (which can only be viewed on your iPhone), you can't drop/trade/loot/whatever. Just walk around.
