From my perspective, hacking in Maple is the same as selling drugs in reality. Before someone flames me for saying that hear me out. Hacking makes everything easier until you get caught. Now see the thing is the "Police" in Maple don't do anything, people are hardly ever caught. You have thousands of obvious hackers running around everyday but the higher authority does nothing when you break the rules. Why did no one hack before? Because there was always that chance that you would get caught and be banned so it was not worth it. Even though that's not how everyone thinks, there are still people who don't hack just because it's wrong. But what happens when there is no authority to correct you when you do wrong? Everyone starts breaking rules. If people in reality could sell drugs, make serious cash and not get caught because authority didn't care or they were just incompetent, more people would do it. You can try and say that's not true, but it is. That's what exactly happened to hacking over the years, Nexon just stopped giving a pineapple.
When more people start doing something that is not accepted, it starts to become more accepted as time goes on or people just stop caring.That's what happened over the years. Back then hacking was the #1 thing not to do or no one would associate with you. Some people even have friends on their buddy list that were legit as someone could be a couple years ago, now they are botting at maps and not caring. What do you do? Do you stop talking to friend you knew for years because they started hacking or do you just keep your distance from them? Some people just don't care anymore. Why don't they care anymore you may ask? Who is going to stop them? I know people right now who make hundreds of dollars just by hacking. They are not the skilled hackers either, they are the script kiddies and packet monkeys who exploit and bot, then sell all of it for cash. People want money, if they have to be bad in a virtual world where authority doesn't do their job to get the things they want in real life then they don't care. That's the mentality that changed over the years.
The whole "Legit" term is useless now in maple, because everyone has their own term of it now. Mostly everyone has done something that ruins their legitimacy, whether it was on purpose or not. I personally don't like hackers, they ruin the game, but at the same time if someone starts hacking that I know I won't care because at the end of the day you can't do anything about it. If you try to have a buddy list and a group of people that are 100% Legit. You won't have much of a buddy list.
