Fried food like this is part of the culture of Americans. I read an article today saying how one fried butter on a stick has 45g of fat by itself, not including the cinnamon and other stuff they put on it to flavor it, which adds another 15g of fat. I for one, however, think food like this is unappealing.
They also have fried twinkies and such in the Midwest and South as well.
The south has it, too. When I went to the state fair 10 months ago, I recall seeing:
- Fried cheesburgers
- Fried apples
- Fried twinkies
- Fried Moonpies
- Fried ice cream
- Fried waffles
- Chicken Waffles (unrelated, but it's a piece of fried chicken wrapped in two breakfast waffles)
- Fried soda
- and fried everything else they could figure out how to fry.
