How exactly does it make sense to have a magical mirror, a mirror only able to be wielded properly by the aforementioned "comatose" (only not really, she's just sleeping) goddess who exists in another dimension, exist in a throne room in our dimension?

No, The Gentleman, a single person, did. Everyone else just stalled the story while he did all the work.

Sounds like everyone else didn't exactly what he needed them to do.
Also, he's a member of the Black Wings, so....

EDIT: Neinheart isn't one of the heroes. He was hostile as pineapple to Aran when he tried to ask for their help, and actually accused him of being the enemy. Only after approval from others did he accept him, and even then, reluctantly.

Guess that would prevent him from being a Hero (assuming he didn't also experience brain-wipe.)
