They showed the same screen Viaje posted, and said that Aran was the first hero, Freud was the second, and Evan is his sucessor.
There's no logic in Mercedes meeting with Evan when she sleeps for many years, and that's enough for the whole maple world change. That cutscene is in the time the Heroes are about to fight the Black Mage, Evan wasn't even born since he is the PRESENT hero.
The level 200 medal for them states it, Hero's SUCESSOR. He's not the hero, he's a boy that is as pure of heart as Freed, and that found the egg and now trains alongside the child of Afrien.
You know, it's better for you to get based on such things, than just getting restricted to the hair colour. :x
No, the point was, why is Freed in the trailer wearing the Evan set? And why does Afrien have Mir's head symbol instead of his own, which he's always featured with? Evan is Freed's successor, so why does the Freed in the trailer look like Evan, rather than Evan growing to look like the Freed at the end of Freed's life (in the Mercedes tutorial)? The whole thing is full of contradictions if you look at it from that point of view.
-sighs-
Never mind, there goes Nexon pineappling up logic in general again. HighOnMushrooms has made a fair point, assuming that the causality between the trailer and the Mercedes trailer holds true.

Evan's always been hyped as Freed's successor, and he is one of the new heroes, so it would also be common sense for him to wind up fighting the Black Mage.
