I seriously doubt that Freed and Afrien were in the trailer at all. There are too many graphical inconstencies between the dragon master and the dragon in the trailer and Freed and Afrien. Look at the dragons' head markings and the dragon masters' hair colours. If anything, the trailer shows carbon copies of Evan and Mir.
Whether the battle in the trailer happened in the past or not is subject to uncertainty, since everything goes out of the window when you're dealing with an area that pineappling lets you travel through time.
But that would also mean that Evan and Freed were coexisting in the same timeline, separated by a mere distance. (assuming of course that you accept that the evidence points towards Evan being in the mercedes trailer)
