I don't have time right now to break down all of what you said, but a few points:

#1: I state what I state as facts either because they are facts or because stating "I think that..." before everything is stupid. For example, "Chocolate cake is disgusting." That said, the stance that I put out about the legality of IP infringement is not a matter of personal opinion, it is a matter of fact. You can be opposed to it, and that's fine, but IP infringement is illegal, regardless of whether you understand or are even willing to admit that it's IP infringement.

#2: Analogies do not work here, particularly hardware analogies.

#3: Gratis versus Libre: Read that. There is a difference between something which is free of cost, and having an open license like you're claiming is justified with anything released free of cost on the Internet.

#4: No, I do not work for Nexon, nor do I own stock in the company. I am simply a person in favor of intellectual property being protected, even the IP of soulless corporations.

All I can say is that the freedom of press overrules IP in many cases, especially when the publication only has the mere intention to inform their readers...

You do not understand laws. Read this: Fair use. "many cases"... hah! Weasel words if I ever heard 'em!

Actually it would be possible to sue Nexon for false and misleading advertising, because they claimed several times that Maplestory is free to play and NX items wouldn't interfere with the gameplay...

Produce an advertisement or official press release or public statement and you might have a case.

Also, about damaging Nexon's commercial gains... I wonder how they would reply if you would reply with the question if they're referring to losing profits from Nexon's in-game online gambling system Gachapon. Since on-line gambing is illegal by law in the USA and a lot of other countries in the world, I wonder if damaging illegal commercial gains by Nexon also is Intellectual Property Infringement...

Gachapon is not gambling. It's the same basic principle behind trading card booster packs. You pay a price and you get something. The something you get might be valuable or it might not. That's not gambling. It's easy to argue that it's not fair, but it certainly isn't gambling and it isn't illegal.

And Russt, metaphysical arguments aside, it's still not illegal. They have actual machines like these. Are you not familiar with gashapon machines? They're not big in America, but the same principles can be applied to similar machines that dispense lower quality prizes (you've probably seen them at the grocery store), as well as trading card games as I said above.

edit: butterfli, the things you refer to are bad business practices, but they aren't breaking any laws. They make it clear that accounts are theirs and that Nexon cash points have no actual value. Them wasting your 2x you paid for means nothing, because what you actually bought was Nexon cash points.
