First of all, Afrobean, I think you have a twisted view about legal rights in this world... I don't know where you live, what your job is, or what you believe in, but for all I know you're working for Nexon itself, or either you're a right wing conservative american with stocks in Nexon who claims to have to sole right to the truth...

Really, no offense, but you state every opinion you have as a fact and the whole rest of the world is incorrect... Please open your eyes that not all that you claim is the sole thruth and not everything you claim is correct. There are other people with other opinions, I suggest you keep your mind open for them!

In your oppinion... In my opinion they're just running a made from scratch home server which happens to be compatible with free to download software from the internet... In your opinion this is illegal, many others don't think so...

You may consider this a bad thing, but so too do murders think it's bad that killing is illegal. You're too deep in to the situation to give an unbiased opinion on whether it is right of Nexon to do these things or not. It's Nexon's IP, and they're completely justified to bring legal actions against those who would infringe it. How would you feel if you created a movie, game, or other piece of art and were trying to distribute it, only to find some rogue group deciding that their version of your piece of art was better, and not only this, but this group was giving away copies of your art for free and encouraging the public to stay away from your official version.

What is Nexon's IP here? Nexon doesn't own the right of humanity of writing software that is capable to communicate with the program they freely host on their website to be downloaded by everyone. Again, it's your opinion there is IP infringement here, many other don't share your opinion, again, don't reply to others to state it as a fact, just say that you -think- it's illegal.

Also your comparision with movies is not correct imo, yet again you state it as a fact. The fact you state may be illegal (directly selling copyrighted content), yet it's not the same as the thing we're talking about here. So don't use false arguements. If you want to compare it, try comparing it like this:
- Nexon's Downloadable client = DVD
- Nexon brand DVD player = Nexon's Servers
- DVD player = Private Server

Nexon would say that you're only allowed to view this DVD on DVD players from NEXON themselves. Some people don't agree with this of and play the DVD on their own DVD player. I wouldn't know why this would be copyright infringement...

That's all there is to it, but offcourse this is only my weird way of viewing these things...

I'm all for the other things KoolK was involved in though. The stuff that, you know, isn't illegal, or rather, the things which actually fall under fair use.

This is irrelevant. Many of the things on this site are blatant infringements, even things completely unrelated to the concepts of data extraction.

However, since the site's purpose is that of a fansite that pushes players toward Nexon's service, rather than a "Rogue website" that encourages distension, Nexon likely will not act against this site. Anyway, they'd have about the same justification to attack Sleepywood or Hidden-street as they would to attack this site.

Any extractions of any freely distributed data on the internet is completely legal, and it's also a fundamental right of humans to talk about it. It's called freedom of press and speech. Southperry, Sleepywood, Hiddenstreet, they all have the freedom to publicise everything they want, even if they're not even fansites at all...

But ok ok, I won't state refering to article 19 of the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" as a fact. This all just my humble opinion.

Did Nexon invent the software code called "repacker"? No, it's perfectly legal to make one, talk about it, publicise about it, and -even- put it online and distribute it... But ok, this is only my own opinion, like you have your own view on this...

But well ok I won't start to argue with you about this again, because the previous topics got already closed because of this...

All I want to say, always keep an open mind for others with another opinion, and don't state everything you think as an absolute fact! There are many versions of the truth!
