But all of this aside, what annoys me the most isn't the mispronunciation of manga (as unprofessional as it is) or the crappy "hologram" talk. What annoys me the most is that none of these news stories seem to give credit to the very talented composers that actually make songs using Vocaloids. And a lot of them seem to make it seem like she's from an animated series or something. They never really make mention that she's actually the mascot to the Vocaloud software that people use for their own songs, and that all the songs she's performing are from very different people.

I know if I was interviewed (lol) the first thing I would talk about is how Vocaloid songs all are written and composed by different people, and maybe drop some names like Wowaka or OSTER in there as being popular composers. I'd explain how Vocaloid allows these artists to get recognized. I wouldn't bother talking about how cool Miku herself is, or how the performance was rad unless it was asked.

This. It's also never really explained plainly what Vocaloid really is in the first place with most of these news stories. It undermines everything Vocaloid is really about- that it gives a voice for people who really want to compose their own music or to be used for composers who want something interesting to work with. And yes, like you say, it doesn't give enough credit to the talent of the composers and the fact that there's different ones. Western media coverage seems to make it seem almost as if a big music company is behind her. The fact that she's just a mascot for software that's intended for anybody to use for their own songs is gone.

I honestly think our parental generation should keel over and die already. They know nothing about anything that has happened after 1990's, and they cannot adapt to anything that's happened during the start of that same decade.

To me, watching them try to adapt to our generation's culture is too embarrasing. This isn't about fashion, or what's new, or who's old and who's not, it's that our parental generation seem like cavemen/cavewomen in our futuristic culture now.

One of my uncles happens to be an English professor at a respectable college. One day, my aunt came to hang with us and she asked if I knew this "'Friday' song". She was telling me how the video was circulating around the professors at the college because they were emailing each other about it. I don't know what the hell they were like during the whole exchange, but I imagine it must have been like "lol You have to hear this "Friday" song! It's so stupid! How could anyone come up with it?"

I can't quite imagine how, but I know that we'll be like that in the future.
