Funny how polarizing these discussions always become.
Tends to be moral absolution against those who have sided with anarchy.
I have no intent of abusing the VPQ (since I already have the sword I intend to use for a while), but I find myself wondering:
Is a law a law if it isn't enforced?
When it comes to Maple, I used to be more of a moral absolutist.
I still lean in that direction, but I fall into the category that is becoming tired of constantly feeling righteously indignant. It's not worth the energy, so I've resigned myself to becoming apathetic.
While I still do not actively support these exploits, I find a hard to completely condemn those who take advantage of such exploits when there are very overt hackers allowed to run around freely.
I guess you'd say that my view of Maplestory has become morally relativistic.
While I'd love for Nexon to step up and draw a line in the sand, they have not.
They've promised to fix things, but they've shown zero signs that they're making an effort.
So I'll send in my daily reports, but I've decided to otherwise ignore the ToS-breaking actions of other players.
If they're violating the rights of another player, I'll make a fuss, but everyone is playing they're own game at this point.
I've used cheat devices in plenty of games in the past, but I haven't in Maplestory.
If what I've done in games hasn't affected what I do in other games, then I think it's quite a leap to assume that what someone does in a game is going to affect what they do in life.
See, the problem with your post is that you're using the word 'community' but then describing the beliefs of individuals.
I would say that it's very much inaccurate to say that a majority of Maplestory players, or even users on Southperry, think that "the hackers are the good guys." In fact, no one in this thread has echoed that sentiment.
However, I'll follow my assumption that your post was intended only as overly dramatic tripe, and I suppose I should excuse it.
