It's very true. You've no reason to be self-conscious in front of a mirror. How often do you stand in front of the mirror checking yourself out with someone else in the vicinity? With a photograph you look at it and you immediately see all of the things you don't want other people to see, or are afraid people will think look bad. The same goes for video because there's no one thing to focus on at any time because it's constant action. Unless you're sitting there picking your nose, of course.
