Even well-made games can have trouble detecting botters or certain hacks on a limited scale (such as increased move speed or prevention of certain sources of damage). However, the frequency and scale of the hacking problem in Maple is just embarassing.
The only botters that have existed in AO are ones who farm currency and sell it, and hacks are not used to do so. I've been around the international version of the game almost since it's start and not once has there ever been a hack inside the game. It may not be as large as MapleStory is, but it's definitely a very popular game, especially the Korean version. Every year there is a competition done by people around the world to win real life money. As I said, if the client, game files, and hack prevention program is done properly it's entirely possible to make a game that has nothing to exploit to create hacks, no matter its scale.
