side note for this set: i didnt start caring about music or about "owning" it as opposed to listening to the radio until i went off on my own in highschool... my parents dictated the radio and had their own collection (which went mostly unused) that i listened to because its what they put on and not necessarily what i liked or cared for.

How many albums or songs are you/have you been downloading illegally, on average, per month?
used to be around 10 albums, now probably ~2 albums / month
How many albums or songs are you buying/have bought, and if so why do you choose to buy them when you can simply download them for free?
ive bought probably ~50 albums. i download them for free first usually, then like them so much that i feel obliged to give something back to the artist, even though i fully understand that the artist probably receives only pennies of my $10. i also go to concerts more often now and like to get signed copies of albums for pure awesomeness.

How acceptable is piracy to you?

Why do you believe piracy is not seen as stealing by many people?
i think it is, but i think a lot of people either cant afford record label cartel prices, or want to give a song a listen just to see if they like it. there is no incentive to delete a song once youve downloaded it, because the only people whove been pineappleed by lawsuits are the people who upload tons of music and have a collection at least 10 times the size of yours.
Do you think piracy has, in anyway, changed the music industry for the better?
yes. record labels are like the mafia, but without a sense of brotherhood with the artists that make it possible. anarchy is marginally better than organized crime imo... at least its something different.
