I had a few teachers back in high school who had these; namely, my AP Bio teacher had Ebola (to which I was like 
). Here at UW-Madison there's a display on the second floor of our Microbial Sciences building that talks about microbes in daily life, and has one of these plushies displayed for each one. Love it.
