Yeah, that's what they did in KMS.
Each world intertwines with each other, but each world is "separate." You can log into one of the <number> of worlds that are connected with each other and play with your friends, guild mates, etc., but you can't transfer money, items, and the like between the characters in different "worlds" unless you use a trusted person or another computer to do so.
