I wonder if he'd pursue astrophysics as something he'd settle with and depend on for the rest of his life. Would he ever wonder what life is like going through school at the pace everyone goes through?

I'm all for letting the kid grow at his own pace and keep our fingers crossed that he'll take us to the next level of knowledge instead of bringing himself down on his own knees in the toilet. We're just not ones to guess, let alone decide, what is and isn't good for him. His mom shouldn't be either, but there's no saying she does not try to be.
