Nope. If you could zoom out on Earth, it would be just like the sun setting. One side, the right, would slowly get black, spreading west-ward. Except, instead of it getting black, it would disappear. So, after some of the Earth has disappeared (up to half, probably less) the atmosphere would stretch down, to continue to cover the Earth, instead of staying out in space, in a sphere, and get fried by the inner Earth (mantle, core, ect.), the rest would dissipate, and everybody still alive [insert Hawaiians here] would get pineappled due to lack of air. So nobody, except those with air, food, ect. would survive much longer than the Aussies.
And that is my theory, on something that will never happen. Because the Aztecs were uncivilized, (or at least they didn't know what we know today, and nobody is predicting the end of the world from our knowledge) people who probably had human sacrifices to the gods and whatnot. And besides, maybe they are smart (not), they probably decided, "well, this calender extends 2,00 (or so) years into the future, pineapple this, someone else can continue it a millennium from now.
