I downloaded the demo and it felt to me like the controls still need some work. You can't go from a jump to a spindash without letting go of your down button and pressing it again, and it takes a little longer than I remember from the old versions, to start Sonic's actual speed running.
It just felt wierd to me. I hope that things turn out good in the end though.
