Nexon Wrote:With Big Bang fast approaching, there’s never been a better time to think about your account security. So as the big day approaches, we would like to encourage all users to keep the following in mind:
Change your password and PIC often! Make sure to choose passwords and PICs that contain both letters and numbers. Do not use the same username and password you use for other sites. If one is compromised, everything associated with it can be too!
Never share your account information! Do not give others, even trusted friends, your account information. If it falls into the wrong hands, you may find your hard worked characters striped or even your account banned for something you didn’t do but somebody else did.
Never enter your PIC on a website! You only need to enter your PIC in the game. If you are asked to enter your PIC somewhere else, it is probably a phishing site looking gain access to your account.
Never enter your account information on a non-official MapleStory website! The more places your account information is entered, the more likely it is to be compromised. Beware of phishing sites and check the URL. If it looks suspicious, do not enter your information.
Never download unsecure software! Programs like “hacks,” “cheats,” “meso generators,” and among others usually come with hidden malicious, elements. Not only can key-loggers and viruses be included, some programs have been known to cause MapleStory to stop working properly or prevent you from logging in at all. Don’t trust it if you can’t trust the source.
Protecting your account is key and the simple steps above will ensure a prosperous Maple journey. Maplers new and old please stay safe!
