I would never recommend going FAless on a Crusader, that's 50-80 levels where you're 20% weaker by nature than all the rest of the Crusaders and it's already a bit unpopular class. The speed increase in gaining orbs in 3rd job means that it's the only warrior subclass where FA helps mob damage, and it's just as good for single targets damage.
Sword is better than Axe in every situation, it's pretty simple. It used to be that Axes were ok in 2nd job (when it was Maple Dragon Axe vs. Maple Soul Singer, and there were no attack shields) but nowadays there's just no way for an Axe to be scrolled well enough that it beats a "good" sword.
The only reason I can think of to do it is if you've spent a large number of points in Axe already (say level 60 Axe fighter) and can't afford to SP reset them all into Sword.
