Convert all of our electricity to solar, then you can recharge your car all you want.
Any solution must take time. It's like Vista. Less people in the beginning use it, so programmers don't make software designed or even compatible with it, which becomes a downside causing less people to want to get it. Same with alternative energy basically, except instead of compatible software it's the technological advancements to produce the stuff more economically and make them available and etc.
