My optometrist actually prescribed me with glasses drastically lower than my prescription because that apparently has a chance of improving your eyesight. She tells me to use the lower pair for close up work (Ex. computer screen) while using the normal prescription ones for far work (ex. powerpoints). These days, I only pull on the stronger ones when I absolutely need to see further things like class and stuff, though carrying an extra pair can be a pain at times.
@original topic: As most people have said, it'll take a while to adjust. It's like walking into a house with burnt food; you'll smell it at first, but after a while, the smell will seem "normal" that it wont feel out of place anymore.
