If I didn't have to leave this account logged in to help out some friends, I would check my main to make sure, but I'm pretty sure it should work if you log off the website.
I've been having tons of problems with logging on from the front page anyway... I do better if I go to any other page, like News. Then my character actually shows up and I can tell if I've disconnected from the website.
EDIT: I tried logging onto my friend's account and didn't have any problems. And I logged back into my account but I'm still faced with that dumb "ID is still logged in" nonsense. This makes me really sad. I haven't been able to log in long enough to see if anything that happened to my account warrants some compensation, but if it does, I'm missing out on it.
