You only need 1 person who can use SE to every three to five NLs, just like you only need at most 1 bishop per five others. Even without SE five NLs will take down a boss faster than most other configurations.
The point was the people who are "needed" are relatively few and far between, and most of them don't even enjoy themselves because they know they're not doing anything special - they're just being the stick that clubs the boss to death or a one trick wonder brought along to make the so called useful people even more so.
