Ah, you mean the laser beams? It's an allusion to the song title, "Ringo Mogire Beam". The title parodies a Japanese cult called the Cosmic Brotherhood Association; which started as an organization dedicated to finding UFOs. Its followers believe that a catastrophe (something along the lines of a giant flood) will come, but all members of the Cosmic Brotherhood Association and their family will be saved by being transported by UFOs to a new world when they utter""リンゴ送れ、C" (Ringo Okure C). The song lyrics even parody it, by mentioning being taken to paradise by saying the password.
Personally haven't seen the final OVA yet; but I just love what SHAFT did with the opening. Meanwhile, enjoy:

I wish they parodied the famous music score for the shower scene, but it was a good enough parody, I guess.
