This statement gets to represent the lack of cake knowledge abroad. There's LOTS more varity to cakes than to pie. Cakes can have all the fruits a pie can, and a trillion of other fillings, crusts, nuts, etc and so on. When my son has his birthday parties I usually make a cake with cream, vanilla sauce, frozen raspberries and at least 3 kinds of fresh fruits. Obiviously cake win on varity alone. Pie is great, cake is better.
