I cannot vouch for anyone but myself, but I do it not to be some nice guy one minute, and a douchebag he next. I do it because I was raised to respect and treat women well. I don't personally understand my own issue with chicks, but if they ever really did give me a chance.... I doubt they wouldn't be pleasently surprised.

I've actually not met very many who do act like that out of routine (as opposed to only doing it with a goal in mind). Acting gentlemanly is only the beginning - it makes for an attractive trait and tells the girl right off the bat that this guy is probably least likely to be an ass. lol I feel like I'm scaring people off. >:
