I dunno, my family loves milk so we can usually get 2 gallons at the same time and finish them before expiration. There have been times when we didn't use it all up, but we can handle drinking milk a day or two past expiration. After all, if you don't have someone constantly opening the fridge in your house, then the milk can last quite a bit longer than it would normally in a store. Sometimes if we see the milk is container is still pretty full and near expiration, we'd put it in the freezer at a low enough setting that the milk doesn't actually freeze.
