Water Goblins damaged around 300 to my naked level 49 cleric without magic guard. I think you'll be fine.

A cleric has invince and bless.

Where bless gives 20 def to both types and invince makes it so that we take 30% less of the normal damage we should've taken.

butterfli has a point. You've gotta face it eventually. DTs will, for most, be a learning stretch because it is the start of the unique training trend for the 3rd job fp. By the time you have meteor, you most likely will want to have your potting reflexes honed.
