It's not uncommon to see someone with a 27atk BWG. Really, it's not just "the richest" players who have it; rather, a 27atk BWG has become sort of the defining characteristic of a merchant. It's just whether or not that merchant wants to take a little 3b risk-run (aka sacrifice another equip) to better the work glove. Most merchants I knew (even smalltime merchants) would have the funding ready in about four months or so (being generous), so I'm really sure such a work glove (28 or 29atk) is possible.
But I guess I'll have to wait and see your screenshot, because 30atk and 34atk do seem somewhat more ridiculous and illegitimate. It reminds me of these items I saw on Sleepywood, to which I called BS on simply because of the absurdity of the items.
