Cartoon violence man, as they were edited to monsters rather then people that makes it ok oddly enough. You also don't show any long term after affects other then being disoriented/confused.
Seeing as they happen to be a cliche of a weapon("Those classic round ones with the little fuse, oh yeah") couldn't have hurt either.
