Riding the Battleship changes your speed and jump just like a mount. As a result, scrolled shoes and haste don't work while riding the Battleship. This means you have to do a lot of mounting/dismounting so that traveling around a map doesn't take forever.
Recoil Shot only covers horizontal distance. Flash Jump has both horizontal and vertical range and it is also enhanced by Haste. If a monster has you trapped in the corner of a map, Flash Jump can get you to safety without getting hit. Recoil Shot can't do that. Recoil Shot doesn't propel someone halfway across a map unless it is used together with Wings off a high point like a rope or platform.
Air Strike has a long animation, hits only 6 targets, and has a cooldown. You also have to get off the Battleship in order to use it.
Homing Beacon/Bullseye cannot be used while on the Battleship.
I don't know why anyone would think these changes to Corsairs are such a big deal. Very little has changed how Corsairs are played. These changes are just to encourage players to use the other skills.
[SPOILER=Got caried away D: But don't forget the conclusion]Yup, 2 hit KO. But you can freeze the monsters near so they don't hit you. Or if that doesn't work, stun them.
Riding the boat also lets you dismount to move with recoil, mount again, and it makes it last more, since you remount it, so you end up gaining.
I've seen ANY Gunslinger get to any other platform as I did as a NL. Do the test, you can get to the top of the Mu Lung Dojo platform where the NPC stands. And you guys have float too. Oh yeah, our FJ produces pot lag, so we can't pot until it goes off. But wait, you can freeze/stun and easily do the same thing as us. Also, considering that mobs get bigger as you level, it gets harder to FJ over. I can barely jump over knights at time temple, and I get hit 100% if I try that on a mob. And even then, if I manage to pull it off, since I can't stun, I'm still open to attacks even before landing. Meaning that a bit of lag is enough to finish me off.
Air strike might hit only 6, but the only mob attack I have hits 6 located only in front of me, just like your torpedo, but way weaker. I'd sometimes love to clear two semi crowded platforms to go to the filled one.
CONCLUSION: I'm not against these changes. That class is quite balanced in itself. What I'm saying is that it works everywhere, has a good damage, and is, overall, useful.
My example was that, compared to NLs, we may need some tweaks too, and I'm not really talking about damage. If we really are the best moving class, why do I have to move walking past the mob, instead of Fjing in case of pot lag? Why does avenger stop working when that 7th mob you can't hit with it manages to get to your face and you have to start punching it? Why does our drain like a triple booster D:? Why do I have to max a lv 30 skill to be able to toss enemies 100% of the time, if it's the ONLY way to attack on a crowded platform...
The problem's not in Corsairs, it's just that I'd like to have fun with my class, and sometimes, I can't simply because of those silly things.
...Dammit, I sure got carried away down here too...
