Plus, creating a Magician class that's not based solely around ultimates would be a good thing. We get so much hate right now for those skills that having a Mage good at single target DPS, party skills, and a decent mobber for training purposes would completely revolutionize the playing field. I think many would agree when I say I'd love to see a Magician class that mobs well with a combination of fast skills, can contribute unique and useful buffs to parties, has 1+ single target skills with DPS that makes them worthwhile at bosses, and has an amazingly powerful ultimate to use for occasional mobbing purposes (like HT). To be quite honest, Dark Fog as it is now is the PERFECT boss mob skill for HT, PB, and other high-end bosses that spawn occasional swarms of mobs.
In the end? Keep Dark Fog as is, speed up their skills, increase the base attack of single targets to get them a tad stronger, and make sure later skills don't replace current ones. Then you've got yourself a very well-rounded, useful Magician class.
The only thing i disagree with is keeping dark fog as is. At the very least, a 1 minute cooldown is ridiculously long. In this kind of game, anything over a 30 second cooldown for an attacking skill is pretty much useless. In this way, dark fog should be improved. The base attack is fine, really. In the promo video the character hit near 100k per mob on neutral (though i don't think fog has an element anyway; if it was on a monster weak to fog if it had an element then evans would hit 199,999 on 15 mobs every cast).
Dark fog being a powerful skill doesn't change the fact however, that even though they are strong bossers, they do not have the skills necessary to compete with even weapon classes when training. At a place like O4, it seems the strategy to train there would be to rush (slowly), stun/freeze, and then pound away. Even so, their power is not nearly enough to kill faster than weapon classes who in GMS can 2-3hko at high enough levels. If dark fog was available, the cooldown would make it so their kill speed would still not compete. If the cooldown was lowered to 20 seconds however, O4 would be ridiculous for them. However considering the speed and range of rush, this slows training much more than necessary.
At the moment mediocre 1v1 DPS compared to even medium powered classes (buccs, shads) does not mean they have to suffer in training speed. I would be satisfied if they however had a boost in rushing speed and range, removed blaze's chain lightning effect, and increased blaze's range to that of energy orb (range as in the bouncing between mobs, which is ridiculously huge).
