Low STR Gunslingers definitely wins over STRless Gunslingers in terms of damage. Being a STRless Gunslinger isn't a way to go, since weapon attack is more important than just DEX. Also, having more DEX for Gunslingers doesn't improve as much damage as LUK for thieves, INT for magicians, or STR for warriors and brawlers.
Unlike Maple Kandiva Bow or Maple Nishada, Maple Cannon Shooter doesn't improve attack speed, which takes away the advantage of being STRless. Also, Gunslingers need STR for better armors and stuff, unlike archers, even though weapon defense doesn't matter much.
STRless Gunslingers only scroll for DEX and use lower level guns, while low STR Gunslingers scroll both DEX and STR, but they use higher level guns. Being low STR doesn't only outdamage STRless in a long run, but wearing stat equipments such as Black Belt, Zakum Helmet, and Horntail Pendant can help low STR having the advantage of using higher level guns. You can cap at 20 base STR and buy enough STR equipments if you want to use the gun that you want at the end, as long as the attack is good enough.
Here are the STR equips that you can achieve:
BASE STAT - 20 STR
Maple Warrior - 2 STR
Quest Specialist Medal - 2 STR
Zakum Helmet - 15 STR
Glittering Altaire Earrings - 2 STR
Broken Glasses - 2 STR
Circle of Ancient Strength - 2 STR
Horntail Pendant - 52 STR (or 5 STR from Mark of Naricain)
Black Belt - 5
That leads to a total of 102 total STR (55 total with Mark of Naricain) without having to sacrifice DEX, in which you have enough STR Concerto, level 100 gun. However, if you want to use the best gun, Reverse Blindness (which is very expensive), you need 18 more total STR. With 50 STR overall and 24 STR Yellow Adventurer Cape (which can be sacrificed to DEX or Pink Adventurer Cape), you can have 176 total STR (131 total with Mark of Naricain) with all of those equipments, but you only need 120 total STR.
Zakum Helmet and Glittering Altair Earrings can't be scrolled for STR, in which you scroll for DEX instead. Gunslingers might use Stormcaster Gloves instead of their own class glove, and Pink Adventurer Cape and Facestompers must be using Chaos Scrolls for more attack, unless you want to scroll more STR on Yellow Adventurer Cape. That only leads to overall which is optional to scroll for STR, but it can sacrifice to DEX.
Currently, Horntail Pendant can't be scrolled with 52 STR, since the hammer glitch is rolled back, so you might want to use Mark of Naricain, in which you have 5 STR, 47 STR less than a fully egged Horntail Pendant. Mark of Naricain is much easier to get than Horntail Pendant, and it gives you more attack. Circle of Ancient Strength is expensive as hell, and it only adds 2 STR and 2 DEX. Level 20 Maple Warrior only adds 2 STR temporarily, so be aware that you have to max Maple Warrior or find a partner with maxed Maple Warrior if you want 2 more STR.
Having the total STR for the best gun isn't really necessary, but rather having the total STR for the gun that you want to use at the end, though using Maple Guns all the time is terribly weak for later levels.
