It's not like you NEED all those ridiculously priced items. Beware that this community has to deal with people who consider "rolling with tens, maybe hundreds, of billions of mesos" as not a big deal.
The vast amount of meso usage may be intimidating at first, but if you think about it, it's not much different from a barter system. Find a scroll, sell it for a ridiculous price and buy stuff you need at similarly ridiculous price, it evens out. Heck, I would consider this inflation beneficial since you can buy pots for much less than what they were worth 3 years ago.
You have that 5m to start out with. Make yourself a 10dex bathrobe, use clean (or 100%'ed if you can afford it) equips and you should breeze to 31 in maybe a week at most. After that CPQ your way to 51 (and deal with a ridiculous amount of stupidity, rant threads ensue) where you don't need good equips or pots. You can alternate with boss hunting for stuff to sell. Old Fox drops Overall Int/Luk 60% which can be quite worthy, Cold Eye drops Chaos Scroll if you have the patience, etc...
