Str less vs Low str Slingers

Is there much of a difference id imagine that str less is weaker in the lower levels but low str would be better in higher levels, like sins. I started a slinger and don't know how high level i will get and am thinking of just adding dex and trying to get good scrolled maple guns. Is this a bad idea? How much of a difference is there between str less and low str? Does the difference really matter?

Other input would be nice as well.
