While yes, criminals deserve punishment, I can't agree with the death sentance except for in First Degree Murder and in Sexual assault, for reasons explained below.
First Degree murder means that it was premeditated and intentional; planned out before hand. If it was their intent all along, then by all means put them to death. Third degree, on the other hand, isn't planned, and in a really bad situation, anyone could panic and decide that the easiest way out of it is to kill someone. It's a bad choice, but I can't advocate the death sentance for it, though going light on the jail time is equally wrong. Then Manslaughter, the unintentional killing of a person. I agree that it should be heavily punished, far more so than aggravated assault, but to give the death sentance for it would just be too much. I'd say 25 years for 3rd degree and 15 for manslaughter, personally.
