Okay, now that there's quite a bit of supporters, I'll list some common arguments against the WW Alliance in terms of the equipment, and counters to them.
1. ZOMG OLD WISCONSINS ARE UGLY!
I believe that Zak Helms are built more for performance compared to looks. Also, the bandanas don't look that great either with their one-color design. And I won't even get into those Naruto-esque bandana headbands NEXON released for MapleStory's 2nd Anniversary.
2. But I need the stats from FSs/Zakum Helmets/Snowshoes/Bandanas!
The fact is, those items are only two slots to your paper(?) doll. I was under the assumption that you can replace stats elsewhere. Even NEXON made such moves with adding new scrolls like Helmet INT, which fits well for the Purple Old Wisconsin.
3. But Snowshoes/Zak Helms have more slots!
It's a double-edged sword. Sure, you get more opportunities to hit scrolls, but you also get more temptations to 30% some of those slots, which lead to the QQs people get when items explode. (And I don't even have to go into the discussion of the White Scroll duping scandals.)
4. But I want to stand out from everyone!
Given how long Bandanas, Zak Helms, and Snowshoes were available, you can't really stand out that much anymore. Heck, even FSs are becoming the norm when it comes to gear. However, Old Wisconsins have been here since Day 1 of Beta, and still make you stand out with it's warm and fuzzy feeling you get from it.
5. Why should I support some old dude who lives in his mom's basement?
Well, should I say that to the Taxi drivers that take us places in Victoria Island? Or how about that English girl in NLC which gives us addicting pots? Face it. We Maplers have come to depend on these people for all of our Mapling needs. Why should we segregate them further?
