That's why NLC monsters drop higher amounts of mesos than their usual counterparts, to make up for the fact that they don't have common ETCs. Even when you take this into account, on 1x drop an NLC monster would be more profitable to kill because you're more likely to get Mesos from a Wolf Spider than Mesos and an ETC from an equivalent monster elsewhere.
