I might have my legal lingo wrong, a lawyer once told me that I was entitled to "pain and suffering" damages against a guy that got totalled by a car that rear ended him, resultantly causing him to tap my car, causing barely any damage and no damage to me.

Law has elevated bull$hit from an art to a science. The precise wording doesn't matter to non-lawyers, because the whole point of this science is to dispense justice for the right price.
