I don't know about you, but it's kinda demotivating when a level 70 Cygnus is stronger than your level 100 adventurer. They should be a little bit stronger, but not insanely stronger as they are now. Though I would prefer a revamp of the system because the way it works now is kind of dumb. If I were to have designed it, I would have had it so that you can join the order of cygnus with your adventurer, possibly with some new skills at certain levels for completing tasks like killing black magician henchmen.
