Back, when i played my warrior I remember how i would train at vikings, grims, and eventually squids and gobies, playing for hours in a party, meeting new people, chatting and other stuff. Even after passing over lvl 15x, I wouldn't mind training that way for hours. Because all that was fun.
The funny thing is, I've noticed this, too. I think it's a combination of leeching and more solo-friendly maps (ex. Windraiders) being released for early third job (so people don't learn how to party and when they need to, they decide to just leech instead). It was the worst right before MP3 was released, when I was trying to train at DTs/MDTs and nobody wanted to... Well, at least MP3 encourages partying somewhat.
Being a priest it's been very hard for me to find parties. Pretty much the only place people want an 8x or 9x priest these days is Himes, and that's usually only two people, and then the channels are always full, and if your attackers can't get a map, they'll just go off and solo somewhere instead. When I get to 105, I can go leech-HS at Newties with a party of 4th jobbers who actually know what partying is... Yay?
The bad thing about partying people always much higher-leveled than you is that it makes for less friendly competition, more guilt (feeling like a gold-digger of sorts), more awkwardness, more of one of you outleveling the training place and not the other...
Meh. I'm struggling with 3rd job and it's not that I don't like it, it's that I can't find anyone to party with most of the time. x_X Try going to ch1 Ludi to look for a party these days... You'd be lucky to find something besides a Pap party at anything but peak times, and then good luck finding a map.
