You obviously never added points into HP. If you make it so that you can survive 11k hits with hb, as a hermit, that means wasting around 20 level adding nothing other than hp.
That means:
1- We would be EVEN HARDER to train. Mob attack is not our best bet in the first place. Now imagine getting exp at half the speed.
2- Without that power lost in those 20 levels, nobody will want us.
Putting points into HP help, but without HP wash, it's totally impractical: Like making an hp warrior without power guard D:
