I highly doubt that GMS is run on just a few servers. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a single server dedicated to chn 1 of each world. I know that in EVE, whenever a large (player-driven) corporate battle ensues, the server maintaining that particular patch of space starts to l4g so much to the point that the GMs try to break up the crowd, or else the server will crash.
In regards to the original topic, I'm literally face-palming at Nexon's blunders. It's a lot like hiring people for a job. You don't choose someone with little experience or maturity. Nexon failed to find experienced participants for the 2nd and 3rd wave Tespia (no seniority), and they absolutely failed to ensure that the participants actually study and pay attention to what they do. This is partly verfyable by imposing a random general knowledge test about the Maple World, a lot like the test at the Holy Rock, only the ones for Tespia expire after a few days or so (to prevent generation of answer sheets).
I approve of KMST's methods, but since that came up, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether GMST is required for anything if Nexon America just gets carbon copies of the data/code (aside from version-exclusive content of course).
