Maybe it's just because I grew up in NYC, but I've never heard anyone ever insinuate games were for boys only when growing up in the 90's. Most girls I knew played them. Back in elementary school I was link trading Pokemon with boys and girls pretty equally. EVERYONE had a gameboy and at least Pokemon and Mario, if nothing else. I didn't socialize much my teen years, but my small circle of friends were all girls and played vidya with me all the time anyway. In general, by the time people hit their teens there was less game playing across both genders.

Anecdotal, of course, but I always found it a little weird how skewed it became online when getting into MMOs.

The funny thing is that this video contains the most unsourced claims compared to all of his previous ones. He makes a lot of arguments that really don't make much sense in many ways, especially from business standpoints, but hey, the narrative must always be preached, right?
