Not that I really used coin battle much, but removing modes always sucks.
I think he's just coming to that conclusion because the PotD doesn't mention what the flag item does in coin matches at all, since in that mode you don't win by KO count total, nor is there stocks. I was thinking the same thing potentially myself.
