Ah! but you can still say 1/16 of a centimeter... Granted, sounds odd, but can still do the trick on maths. Wanna transform it to meters? 1/1600. Gets easy to master.
I live in Spain, so we only use the metric system. Not sure if my points are 100% valid, so feel free to tell.

I see the point now... I just mean that considering our numbers are base 10, it gets easier. Also, works better for more exact measurements in less space.
